Red Rooster Harlem’s New Soul

Monday, September 19th, 2011

Marcel Samuelssons' latest venture and Harlem's new found soul. The Chair Factory worked with designers Stephen Burkes from ReadyMade Projects and Brinton Brewster Interiors.

On any Friday night at Red Rooster, the crowd is likely to encompass not only elements of New York’s “gorgeous mosaic” but also David Dinkins, the former mayor who coined the phrase. There, either at the 76-seat restaurant, the 24 seats at communal tables near the bar, the 20-seat bar itself or the 40-seat sidewalk cafe, neighborhood bankers rub elbows with Bill Clinton; Nora Ephron might be seated alongside Thelma Golden, the director of the Studio Museum; Alicia Keys is likely to be found in a corner with Ralph and Ricky Lauren at a table bracketing her left side and a group of local church ladies on her right.

My Life design by Claudio Dondoli & Marco Pocci

Geometric suggestions and classic elegance characterise My Time, a soft, enveloping chair in which fluid, modern lines combine to create curves that offer maximum comfort. My Time is an elegant protagonist of a contemporary living room covered in leather or in completely removable fabric, which hides its high-tech heart of cold foam over a metal frame. It features sophisticated design and careful craftsmanship and the wide range of leather and fabric coverings allow maximum customisation, combining the quality of artisan workmanship with high technology.

Deez Buzz :: Michael Thonet 150 Years of Excellence

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

We all like a good history lesson. Or some of us do. Alright very few of us like anything about history unless it's a part of summers' blockbuster hits.
We're posting this anyway. TON's bentwood collection is one of histories oldest chairs; having been sat on by millions and millions of bu'' people.

In June and July 2011, visitors had the opportunity to visit the exposition "Legacy of Michael Thonet", created by Jiří Uhlíř, which was presented as a part of celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the bentwood furniture in Bystřice pod Hostýnem. We had a lot of interest in the exposition, therefore we decided to create permanent exhibit in the chateau in Bystřice pod Hostýnem. You can visit it during the opening hours of the chateau until the end of October. The exposition will show you the most interesting parts of the long history, from the founder Michael Thonet (1796-1871) to current TON production.
